When I began Schwartzreport my purpose was to produce an entirely fact-based daily publication in favor of the earth, the inter-connectedness and interdependence of all life, democracy, equality for all, liberty, and things that are life-affirming. Also, to warn my readers about actions, events, and trends that threaten those values. Our country now stands at a crossroads, indeed, the world stands at a crossroads where those values are very much at risk and it is up to each of us who care about wellbeing to do what we can to defend those principles. Much can be said about President Donald Trump, but it is impossible to say that he has “done nothing.” This boorish, megalomaniacal, unpredictable, and frighteningly ignorant real-estate salesman has transformed his country by unleashing an avalanche of executive orders, edicts, institutional transformations, legislative shifts, and policy changes. Whether the nation can recover its democratic roots should not be taken for granted despite its institutional resilience and civic culture.
Trump-World is about more than Trump the president and demagogic ruler of the Republican Party. MAGA stands on tradition. Its base is rooted in the same backward classes, with a similar authoritarian and fascist ideological outlook as its right-wing extremist forerunners such as the “know-nothings,” the KKK, “America First!,” McCarthyism, and the White Segregationist […]
Here is another view of the corruption America is undergoing; this time of the Supreme Court created by Trump, and the MAGAt fascists. The only thing that is going to end this multi-decade authoritarianism trend, is American noters voting overwhelmingly for Democrats, and then demanding that the Democrats create a genuine democratic Republic that fosters wellbeing for all beings. Basically, we have a month to save democracy in the United States.

In recent interviews retired Judge J. Michael Luttig, a conservative judicial icon has repeatedly pressed a key assertion, speaking directly to the role of the current United States Supreme Court and its part in the second rise of Donald Trump Luttig has been direct and pointed. In one interview on the Jim Acosta Show, Luttig described the Supreme Court as, “Presiding over the end of the rule of law in America.” He continued, “We must never forget, this Supreme Court created Donald Trump, they guaranteed his election for a second time and they guaranteed that he could violate the constitution and the laws of the United States of America with absolute impunity.” He repeated those assertions in a similar conversation with MS Now’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell.
This is how mentally deranged Trump is. It tells us how dangerous to American democracy he is.

President Donald Trump’s claim that he could seek a third presidential term has met significant pushback from political analysts, but one lawyer has spotted a scheme that could deliver Trump to the White House again in 2028.
Trump has floated the idea of running for a third term throughout his second administration, even though the U.S. Constitution strictly limits presidential terms. Even some of the president’s allies, like MAGA figurehead Steve Bannon, have said Trump can evade the Constitutional limitation.

LOUISVILLE, COLORADO — Less than an hour after the first warning that a wildfire was headed for her suburban street, Tawnya Somauroo’s Colorado home was in ashes.
She has worked tirelessly for nearly five years to rebuild her house and help ensure her neighborhood can withstand the next blaze. But as climate change contributes to more frequent wildfires, she worries that the careful landscaping, metal fencing and flame-resistant siding are not enough.
“We lost our homes and they left us to figure out for ourselves how to make our neighborhoods safe again,” Somauroo said. “At the end of the day, it comes out of our pockets, you know? And it does feel like maybe the oil and gas industry should have a part in this.”
I don’t think Americans really understand how much damage Donald Trump and the MAGAts have done to the stature and status of the United States. For the first time in history, China is considered a better influence and partner than the United States. In its own hemisphere America is now considered second rate. Here are the facts, and note that this is coming from a french source, so this is how Europe now knows the Western Hemisphere views the United States.

China’s influence in Latin America is now viewed more positively than that of the United States, a major poll conducted in 17 Latin American countries showed Friday.
The 2026 Latinobarometro survey showed that China overtaking the United States in terms of influence for the first time since the annual survey began in 1995.
It showed 57 percent of people in Latin America considering the United States to be a positive influence, down from 60 percent in 2020.
China, meanwhile, was considered a positive influence by 65 percent of respondents, a jump from 48 percent six years ago.
Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic were the only countries in the region where US influence was deemed more positive than that of China.
